Palm Beach, Florida Modern and Contemporary art fair began last evening. The VIP evening kicked off with a Preview benefiting the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens and the Joe Namath Foundation
Highlights
David Benrimon
We first paid a call to David Benrimon, right off the entrance. There were some exemplary works in his booth. What stood out to me was a beautiful Peter Halley, with its intense vibrancy, held the wall splendidly. He also had some Botero’s, Damien Hirst, George Condo, Warhol, Banksy, and a smiling David Benrimon welcoming guests. It’s always a pleasure to catch up with him and see what is happening.
Chase Gallery
Not to give them a big head, but Chase Gallery had just that! Evan Penny’s Self 2012 very realistic protruding overhead seemingly following art lovers as they try and figure the configuration of it. People were just mesmerized with.
Timothy Yarger Fine Art
Galeria Freites
Galeria Freites had a beautiful booth with a large Louis Nevelson, some beautiful sculptures headlining the back wall as well two Dubuffet works, a bold Louis Nevelson and two ladies perched just outside their outer wall calling attention to their booth. One of my favorite booths at the show.
Waterhouse and Dodd NYC
Had an outstanding booth. Roy Lichtenstein on paper, an attractive Tom Wesselmann, bright Kusama, David Hockney and Wayne Thiebaud stood out.
Some other modern contemporary works
All in all, a lovely evening with just the right amount of art and atmosphere. The galleries made an effort to keep it interesting changing works since Art Basel. The Fair will be open this weekend January 11-13.
